Notes for Grad Hours
Prepared by Dennis DeHart
 Spring 2012

Basic Requirements, Questions:
-Meet a minimum of 3-4 times over the semester
-At the beginning of the Semester, I would like you to write a narrative outlining your goals and what you would like to get from our working together.

 What I need from you:
-A minimum one page responding to the questions below.
-Develop an outline/timeline of your semester including meeting dates, studio visit, etc.

Some questions to consider include:
-How might the Professor support you with your work? Critique? Assigned Readings?
-Your major strengths in your work? Areas you want to develop?
-How would you like to be evaluated? Written, verbal, using a mentoring model?
-Generally, the focus for Grad hours is on your art-work. Are there other areas within the culture of art, that you might be interested in exploring. For example: Pedagogy, teaching philosophy, life after graduate school, marketing, career goals, goal setting, stress management, exhibition strategies, etc.
-Are there interdisciplinary interests you have that I might help you develop connections with. For example, biology, environmental issues, education, etc.
-How/where do you want to see your work evolve?
-Are there parallels in your work with lens-based imaging/photography?
-Do you use photography in your work? For example: Documentation of performance? Printmaking? Recording Time? Documentation of installation? Portfolio?
